Sony blames Y2K10?

Sony’s Playstation Network has been having some serious issues lately. From apparent data errors and glitches preventing people from obtaining trophies and other achievements to flat out blue screen errors.

It took over 24 hours to resolve a problem that preventing hundreds from even playing their Playstation 3 systems, and during that time frame Sony apparently recommended not playing at all, even if everything appeared to be fine on your system.

According to a story published in PCWorld.com Sony blamed the Y2K bug. Apparently the PS3 consoles thought that 2010 was a leap year and tried to change the date to February 29th instead of March 1st.

To keep this straight, the Playstation 3 came out, according to Wikipedia, in 2006. That’s six years after 2000 and the time of the Y2K scare. Who programmed their calendar and when was it programmed? 1999?

Well, it’s a good day to not be a console gamer. I’ll continue playing on my PC, where Windows will randomly crash or I’ll have to reformat my hardrive, but I can always reboot or reinstall. Try reinstalling your console operating system and let me know how that goes.

LOTRO: Volume III Book I released!

Oath of the Rangers is out and it’s bringing with it several changes. Most of them won’t effect my character, a lowly level 38 hunter, there are a few that I can’t wait to try out. Let’s get to the list.

Four new Skirmishes-

Fight at the Necromancer’s Gate!

Battle at the entrance to the Ringwraith’s Lair!

Man Catapults in your defense of Thangulhad!

Help free the elves in Dannenglor!

Skill Upgrades-

They have added level 64 skill upgrades finally. This may not effect me but I am sure there are hundreds of people for whom this is the most exciting part.

New recipes and crafting updates-

Level 65 recipes

New icons and stats for Jeweller’s recipes.

New recipes for Cooks.

New class items for Weaponsmiths and Woodworkers.

New crops for Farmers.

New Duo Skirmish mode-

By far the most exciting edition for me. I play with my wife and so far we have avoided skirmishes, other than the first tutorial, because we have had to either grab another group member, or split up and go solo. This has us really excited for the weekend and LOTRO!

Overall there are some great new features, including a new quest line. Keep in mind that all of this is free of charge, aside from your monthly fee that is. So get in there and enjoy!

Star Trek Online

Meet Amuntoth (The Star Trek Online version).

I already have a higher level character with a new ship and a diverse crew, but I decided to reroll as I didn’t end up liking how dark the skin was on my other toon. You can see a nice picture of my first guy in the banner on this site.

This new character will have a Let’s Play associated with it, but it won’t be updated nearly as often as my Everquest II Let’s Play for the simple fact that most of the questing I have experienced in Star Trek Online is repeating the same quest types over and over, whether that is flying through an asteroid field and contacting some research station or warping in to a zone and finding Orion fighters swarming.

I’ll only really be updating it when I get enough of the main story, or at least what I perceive to be the main story, to make an interesting post. Let me know what you think of him in the comments.
